Hello and welcome
I'm Lizzie; it's lovely to have you here.
I was brought up in rural Dumfries and Galloway and spent the last four years studying Biological Sciences in London.
I've been fortunate to grow up with great home cooks all around me; my mum, my aunties, grannie and grandma. Its always brought so much comfort to sit down with family and friends and enjoy a delicious home cooked meal- it's one of the many joys of life! I have lovely childhood memories of visiting my auntie Hazel; chatting away and scoffing my way through sandwhiches and scones in her beautiful cottage garden. Or enjoying smokey kippers cooked on a BBQ on the Northumberland coast with sand between our toes and sunkissed cheeks. Lately, I have loved cooking with international friends in London and learning new flavour combination.
Today we are all far more conscious of where our food comes from and the importance of eating sustainably! I think this is fantastic and as a lover of cooking with fresh produce I'm a big supporter of this. It may just be one aspect of living in harmony with our planet and protecting it but it sure is an important one.
Darling Buds is inspired by my favourite book ' The Darling Buds of May' by H.E Bates and the popular British TV series. It celebrates home-cooked food that is healthy and tasty and made from fresh ingredients. The philosphophy behind Darling Buds is friends, family, food and fun.
Thank you visiting my page; I hope you enjoy my recipes;
